Post #9 why I chose yelawolf

Now that you know so much about Michael Wayne Atha otherwise known as Yelawolf. I will take a minute to tell you about why I picked him of all people to write a blog on for a whole semester.

one of the many reasons I chose to write about him is because he knows what it's like to be dirt poor and to be from the bottom of the gutter and to have absolutely nothing in his life at all. Before he was even born his dad had already abandoned him and it was just him and his mm left to fend for themselves often times young Yelawolf would end up watching himself as young as six years old while his single mom worked the late shift at the bar. He had to mature very quickly, as he was the only man in the house and he felt he needed to fulfill the duties of that.

Another reason why I chose him is he was at one time signed to interscope records and dropped when CEO Rick Rubin took over and dropped a lot of artists from the label. But he didn't let that discourage him though. Nevertheless he kept on making mix-tapes with his own equipment and his own money on his own time for upwards of ten years.
In 2010 Marshall Mathers otherwise known as Eminem was informed of the white rapper known as Yelawolf and immediately fell in love with his style. He flew him out to Detroit and signed him to shady records on the spot, making him the only other white rapper on the whole album.

One of the main reasons I chose him though is because of his incredibly strong work ethic. He has been working for almost ten years now to get were he is today. And he still has quite a ways to go to get we're he wants to be. In my opinion I hope he doesn't make it super big, I like where he is right now.

I'm willing to bet we have all heard a swear word in our life and I'm willing to bet even more that we have heard a "bleep" of a censored word. The topic I chose to cover is censorship because Yelawolf is a rapper and as we all know there aren't many rappers who don't swear a whole ton it's just part of the culture.

After doing a bit of research not surprisingly there is a very large amount of people who are against censorship and then there are a small amount of people who are for it after researching into it a bit I have found it is very hard to find someone who is for
censorship but I did my best however.

The first article I found is an article from the Huffington post entitled. "Anti-censorship manifesto" it talks about how censorship is most commonly associated with a dictatorship. And how journalists are killed each year or are put in prison. A number as high as 155 journalists a year are killed to be muffled to stop from revealing the truth. Of course this is another type of censorship entirely but still all in all. Censorship is censorship. Ether it be censorship of the media or censorship of the truth censorship is censorship and there is no way around that.

It took me literally forever to find something that is pro-censorship...but I did it. I found an organization known as the American family association, their goal is to make life as squeaky clean as possible and to make it faker then fake. In the article they talk about how they plan to make radio indecency go away.

In the article they explain how they want the FCC to crack down on radio stations that accidentally let a cuss word slip. And how they only want they state how they want you to immediately report an incident to the FCC because it is harmful for our children's impressionable minds to have to hear such filth.

All in all my opinion on censorship is its down right blasphemous and I won't stand for it and Christopher reeves won't sit for it neither. That was an Eminem quote...I thought it would fit here. But For real I do not believe in censorship at all. It is a violation of our 1st. Amendment for Pete's sake, I mean come on!

History of white rap

No one really knows who the first white rapper was for sure but what we do know is the Beasty Boys were the first to have major label success in the mid 1980s. Even from there it took white rap a while to actually actually gain popularity. It wasn't really until lithe mid 90s that white rap started to take hold again. With such names as ICP, Vanilla Ice, Marky Mark and the funky bunch, and Everlast. Around 98 or so dr. Dre signed Marshall Mathers otherwise know as Eminem. This is when the white rap game started to cement its self into the rap community. Eminem opened the door for a lot of potential white rappers. After this there where many white rappers but not necessarily many who found major label success, we have southern white rapper Bubba Sparxxx who had the hit ms. new booty around 2005. After that we started seeing a more suburban view of white rap, such as Asher Roth with his single college and Mac Miller with songs such as Donald Trump and Loud. Then came more southern white rappers such as Rittz, Lil whet, Struggle Jennings, and Yelawolf. But it does not stop there, there are so many white rappers in the game nowadays. Some good some bad. All of them pour their heart into it somehow. Weather it be through being incredibly good at rapping, or wearing bright flashy clothing and being more of a novelty rapper such as LA's Riff Raff.
